Out of Church

OUT OF CHURCH CHRISTIANS

There is an interesting trend happening in the Christian community today, it is called the “OUT OF CHURCH CHRISTIANS”. If you are part of those who have left the church for a series of reasons but still claim a strong Christian faith, please let us hear from you by sending us your comments.

This “Out-of-church” occurrence has now grown very large, and we are hearing more and more about it every day. Please do not feel like you are alone, since throughout the world, there are THOUSANDS of such Christians. It does not matter if you live in a large of a small town; the gospel is being watered down everywhere and the emphasis is on pleasing the crowds instead of honoring the Lord.

We have personally come into contact with many that feel this way. These are Christians that once taught Sunday school, directed choirs, and even pastors that now have left the church. They are committed Christians, insightful and devoted to the Lord.

These Christians have grown weary of the games that are being played inside the church system; they are tired of the glitzy Hollywood atmosphere and of the internal bureaucracy, and have decided that they do not want to be a part of it any longer. Countless Christians have told us that there is no warmth; and all the church is looking for are numbers. Many have told us that once they are on the roster, they are forgotten.

These devoted Christians have been faithful to attend church; however they are tired of not getting fed and sitting through ten to twenty minutes of jokes and story telling. Where is the time allocated to those that are hurting and needing to hear about their wonderful Savior, they ask? Often times there are fifteen minutes allotted to the sermon and the message is not even biblically accurate. The church is full of glitz but empty of the Holy Spirit.

There are so many new trendy programs that come and go, and they lack the truth of God’s Word. There is no interaction in Bible studies. Many times the VCR is set up and you listen to a taped lesson just to fill the time, since those that are supposed to be teaching find it easier to sit on the side lines instead of searching the Scriptures and bringing a meaningful study to those that are participating. The one thing true Christians are realizing is that the church is getting farther and farther away from the teachings of the early church.

Not only are these devout Christians hungry for the word and are not being fed. How about those that are babe’s in Christ? They need to hear the truth of God’s word and to learn how to build on a solid base; and not groundwork built on shifting sand. If the church won’t, then we need to teach people how to build a foundation on the solid rock of Jesus Christ.

Many have left their church and have looked for another place to worship. However after visiting other churches they never seemed any more “right” than the place they had left.

Several of these people have gotten together with other searching Christians and have started home-fellowships. Others have opted to stay home and hope to find a message through radio or television that is true to the Word.

If you have experienced this, do not feel alone, there are many thousands of people like you in the world. We welcome your comments or testimonies relating to this topic, or any other question that you might have.

  1. Good job on the site it looks very good. D.R.

    • THIS IS ABOUT LEAVING THE CHURCH. I AM AN ELDERLY LADY LIVING IN A RETIREMENT HOME IN ISRAEL. I AM A BELIEVER, HOWEVER, I DO NOT CARE FOR CHURCH. THE REASON …NO LOVE.
I COME HOME VERY ILL WHEN I GO. NO ONE SPEAKS WITH ME OR GREETS OR SITS WITH ME.

THIS CONTINUED TO GO ON AND I BEGAN TO GET A FEELING OF GUILT AND LONLINESS. THIS HAS GONE ON FOR YEARS. I JUST COULD NOT TAKE THE FEELING OF REJECTION. IF I CALLED THEY DID NOT HAVE TIME TO HELP ME.

NO VISITORS, PHONE CALLS, NOTHING. I SPENT TWO TIMES IN THE HOSPITAL, AND NOT ONE VISITOR FROM THE CHURCH. NO ONE CARED. WHY IS THE CHURCH SO COLD? I ASKED THE PASTOR TO COME AND SEE ME AWHILE BACK AND WHEN I TOLD HIM HOW I FELT HE SAID TO ME “DO WHAT YOU WANT”. SO I DID, I STAYED HOME. BY THE WAY, THE CHURCH IS RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO THE HOME.

WILL I LOOSE GRACE OR SALVATION IF I DO NOT GO TO CHURCH? WILL THE LORD SAY, I NEVER KNEW YOU? I HAVE MANY GIFTS TO OFFER BUT WHEN I ASKED TO HELP THEY ALWAYS SAID NO THANK YOU.

THEY DO NOT ONLY REJECT ME BUT IGNORE ME ALL-TOGETHER. MY HEART IS BROKEN BUT I AM BETTER OFF ALONE. WHAT HAPPENED TO “LOVE ONE ANOTHER” OR “THE GREATEST OF THESE IS LOVE”.

I JUST NEEDED SOMEONE TO TALK TO, AND HELP ME TO UNDERSTAND. THANK YOU FOR LISTENING. I WAS JUST SO SURPRISED TO SEE YOUR ARTICLE ON THIS SUBJECT. THANK YOU FOR THE MESSAGE THAT I AM NOT ALONE. MUCH LOVE, DEE
