BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT – Ephesians 5:18

“And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,” Ephesians 5:18

The Apostle Paul in his letters speaks of the need to live victoriously and how to live well and avoid the excesses of the flesh, with the infilling of the Holy Spirit. The only way to keep sin out of our life is by being filled with the Holy Spirit. Today and every day, I want to be so filled with the Spirit.

Being filled with the Spirit should not be a mystery, but a reality desired by every Christian. We were made vessels to be filled by God. He promises to live in us and to bring abundance in everything we do. When we receive Jesus in our hearts as Lord and Savior, He promises to never leave us or forsake us. He wants to dwell in all areas of our lives. How many times though He is not able, because we have not made a place for Him, and our life is full of so much mundane garbage. So we must clean our lives and leave the heart ready for it to be filled by the Holy Spirit.

If we are filled with the Spirit then we will be rid of every known sin in our lives and we understand the Word of God and are obedient to His teachings. The Word of God brings conviction and repentance to the Christian life. As a Christian I should want to have an abundant life with the fullness and blessing of the Lord. I am at awe to know that God has chosen me to be the temple of His Spirit. Every day I make my life completely available for the Holy Spirit to fill me with His power and presence.

Lord Thank you for your Holy Spirit. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a temple of Your Holy Spirit. Today I want to be filled with your presence and your power to cope with life with full and complete victory in You. For too long other things have filled my life but now I want to be filled with Your love and Your power. Amen.
