A FAITHFUL MOTHER – 2 Timothy 1:5

A Faithful Mother - 2 Timothy 1 vs 5

I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. 2 Timothy 1:5

Paul mentions these two women for having taught their son and grandson the values of Christian faith.

It must have been challenging for Eunice, and Grandmother Lois, to give a Christian education to Timothy because even though they were Jewish believer, his father was Greek (Acts 16:1). It is hard to teach religious principles to children when a parent is not a believer. It is possible that Timothy’s father had died when he was a child, since he is no longer mentioned.

However his mother and grandmother played an important role in his formation. Eunice and Lois put into practice the great biblical truth “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6).

Christian Mothers are best equipped to inspire their children not only in faith in God, but also to give them confidence in who they can be, by the grace of God.

Therefore the maternal influence is so important. Mothers received from God the power to shape the character of the children for time and eternity. Therefore with God’s help and power, educate your children so that they are useful in this world and most of all, so they are well equipped to teach others about Jesus, salvation and eternal life. “Jesus said to him: I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

Happy Mother’s Day, God bless.
